Do you hate the thought of working as part of a team or you simply can’t stand a crowded office environment? Do you have problems dealing with the public face to face?
On the other hand, do you have HUGE potential and you’re ready to put in the work to achieve your dreams?
Keep reading as I'm going to explain how I took advantage of my social anxiety and used it to propel my career and achieve maximum results in my business.
I’ll also share one of my very best jobs for people with social anxiety.
Firstly I want to let you know that you are not alone! According to Mental Health America, 15 Million Americans have a social anxiety disorder - that’s 7% of the population!
No wonder so many people are searching for jobs for people with social anxiety, so try not to feel isolated or different as this is a very common mental health issue. I personally have a different view on it and I am going to explain it right now..
I think social anxiety is a grey area and it doesn’t always come down to a mental health issue but rather different personality types. For example, you could be an introverted type and you simply work more effectively on your own. Extroverts may not appear to have social anxiety as they are very outgoing and good with people but behind closed doors they may feel isolated and depressed.
Just because your not so comfortable around people - it doesn’t mean that you have a mental health issue.
OK I'm not a doctor or psychologist but I am someone who personally suffers from social anxiety.
I think that I have some good information to share on this subject and besides, I believe in making the best out of what we have been given so if you’re not naturally sociable or at your best when working in a team - don’t try to ‘fix it’ - embrace your personality and you can be a high achiever - even more so than people who do not suffer from social anxiety!
How I Discovered One Of My Best Jobs For People With Social Anxiety
I had tried many jobs in my time and I always felt like I didn’t belong there. It’s a strange feeling sometimes I put it down to shyness, sometimes I put it down to pure laziness to connect with people, other times I just had no interest in getting to know people.
Deep down I knew that I wanted to start my own business. Something that I was proud of, something that would have the potential to earn me more money than I would get from a 9-5 corporate type job.
I also wanted to work on my terms. In other words, I didn’t want to fight traffic at 8am everyday to work in a place I didn’t want to be with people I don’t like! OK don’t get me wrong, I’m not a people hater! Most of my colleagues were cool but I just felt more comfortable when making my own decisions on who I spent my time with.
This led me down the road of trying to make money online - and what a journey it’s been so far!
I thought that having an online business would be the answer to all my dreams. I would be able to work where I want, when I want, with who I want (or on my own) and I would have the potential to make a lot of money as I’m not being capped by a salary.
I became obsessed with this idea so I started to do what most people would do and went straight to Google and typed in ‘how to make money online’.
This led me down all sorts of rabbit holes as you can imagine, there were YouTube videos claiming that they are making $20,000 per month with this ‘system’ and that ‘method’ and to be honest I was left with more questions than answers!
I started to take action on a few things and started a ‘drop-shipping’ store on Shopify.com.
If you don’t know what drop-shipping it’s basically setting up a website with items for people to buy, however you don’t own any of the stock on the website, you just display it with a marked up price and when someone makes a purchase, that order goes directly to a company in China who stocks the product and they ship the item out directly to the customer. You keep the marked up profit and you never have to lift a finger, you never even see or touch the products!
Of course this business model sounds attractive but the problem was getting visitors to the website. I gave up with this venture after I only made 1 sale in about 2 months and then the customer wanted a refund because the item was of poor quality!
I then tried a few other things like print on demand T-shirts, Facebook advertising, I even invested a few grand into courses that were claiming that I would be a millionaire by next year if I followed the easy step by step formula to riches!
2 years later and I still had no success at making money online but the one thing that I did get was an education when it came to internet marketing.
I started to realize what was making me want to buy a certain product online, was it the sales video? The sales copy? The message? The way the website looked?
I started to realize that to make money online you need to have a genuine offer that no one can copy, clone or event compete with.
That’s when I discovered that you can make money by sharing what you already know in the form of an online course.
This changed EVERYTHING....
This brings me on to share with you one of my best jobs for people with social anxiety and high ambition
Build Your Own Highly Profitable Online Course
From my experience in ‘drop-shipping’ cheap crap from China, I realized that if someone comes along and sells the same thing as you for slightly cheaper - you either have to compete and go even cheaper or just go out of business as they are going to get most of the sales.
One day I was listening to a Tai Lopez podcast and he had an episode about how people were sharing their skills, knowledge or talent with people through online courses.
They were saying that people were just uploading 10 -20 videos sharing their skills and earning a full time decent income from it.
As I mentioned earlier, I had many jobs in my time and one of those jobs happened to be a locksmith business so I thought…. SWEET!
That is something cool and niche that people are going to want to learn!
Also I didn’t have to worry about the competition as this is something totally unique to me.
The podcast mentioned a website where you can upload the videos and it basically has everything you need all-in-one, so you get the website to attract customers, you get email autoresponders, you get sales pages and you can connect a payment gateway so you can actually get paid from people buying your course!
I decided to focus 100% on this venture and finally I started to see success and way making money online!
This business now brings in around $2,000 per month - every month all on auto-pilot!
I was able to create the course within 28 days using the tree training that the platform offers and I haven’t really done much with it in 18 months and it still continues to pay me passive income :)
The beauty about this business is the fact that it meets all the criteria mentioned earlier.
I don’t need to work for someone else, I can work from home and I have the potential to scale this up if I wanted to.
If you would like to learn more about creating an online course then I have created a free training video all about how you can also do this as a side hustle or full-time income.
If you’re camera shy don’t worry as you don’t need to reveal your face on video, you can even record your computer screen and do google slides or get a voice over. In some cases you can just film your hands.
For example for my locksmith course I could just record my hands picking locks!
Take the free 28 days training if you think you could give this a go and turn your passion into a money making business!
